India faces a shortage of quality feed and fodder, which directly impacts livestock productivity. The NLM scheme encourages private participation by providing financial support for:
Hay units: Drying and storing fodder for 12–24 months
Silage units: Producing fermented, nutrient-rich fodder
TMR (Total Mixed Ration) units: Balanced feed blending for animals
Fodder block making units: Compact, transportable feed blocks
Seed processing units: Cleaning, grading, and packaging high-yield fodder seeds
The NLM provides a capital subsidy of 50% of the project cost, up to ₹50 lakh.
